For Christmas this year Angela bought me a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens. I have been dying to try it out. Finally I decided to test it on one of my favourite subjects, Freddie! (Marabelle hasn't been posing for photos recently... she keeps to herself.)

While I was there taking photos, I thought I would try to shoot a video of Freddie trying to eat. Shooting video is much harder than taking a photo in low light, because the longest exposure you can do is 1/16th of a second. That is why the video looks very grainy (I shot it in black and white because it looked better that way and I could use software filters in the camera to get more contrast) while the photo looks almost noise free.

Luckily, White's Tree Frogs are very good subjects for photography because they sit still for long periods of time. This was a 20 second exposure.

Technical details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 100mm Macro at 100mm, ISO 1600, f/20 for 20 seconds.
