Angela and I managed to get away for a mini vacation to Peterborough in early September. While we were there, we went to see the Canadian Canoe Museum. They have quite an impressive collection of canoes already, and once their new building is complete, they should be able to display a much larger percentage of their collection.

I didn't really know what to expect going in, as I didn't research the museum before we went, but I was amazed at some of the priceless artifacts that they had inside. Here is a photo of the "most famous canoe in Canada", the iconic red canoe that Bill Mason used. They also had the custom made buckskin coat that Pierre Trudeau wore in that famous photo of him in a canoe.

There weren't very many people there when we went, so we got to have a nice chat with the on-site volunteer canoe builder as well. I definitely want to go back and visit again once they move to their new location.
