I was sent over to our office in Burbank this week for an ultra-rare business trip. Norm, Craig, Sharad, Dan, Brana and I flew down on Sunday, spent four full days working, and then flew back on Friday. Of course, this meant that we were in the US for the election on Tuesday.

Not wanting to be in anyone's way on that important evening, we headed up to the Griffith Observatory. They had a couple of telescopes up there: A small one pointed at Andromeda, and the large one pointed at the Moon. Of course one of the most amazing sights from the observatory is the city of Los Angeles. I didn't have much photographic equipment with me (i.e. no tripod), but I managed to hold my hands steady enough to take this panoramic image of the city.

So, this is what Los Angeles looked like on election night in 2016. If you look closely you can spot the Goodyear Blimp over the STAPLES Center.

Technical Details: This panorama was stitched together from 11 photos taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 70-300 IS at 100mm, ISO 3200, f/4.5 for 1/10th of a second. For the stitching, I used the Photomerge function in Photoshop CS6 with automatic settings. The vignette correction wasn't perfect, but overall it did a pretty amazing job.
