Another mileage milestone for my Prius! My car hit 100,000*pi as I was pulling into work recently. OK, I had to circle the block a couple of times, but close enough.

I thought it might be interesting to chart how much I have spent maintaining the car over the years.

It is getting more expensive the older it gets, but it's still not too bad. I had a big hit during year 11 when I had to get the wheel bearings, brakes and control arms fixed up. I did not include the $500 I had to spend a few years ago to replace the rear window, since that was not due to normal wear and tear on the car.

I'm still on the original battery. I'm really not sure how long it is going to last. I have heard that there is really no warning before it goes. I have also heard that when it goes it can often be revived by disassembling it, cleaning all of the contacts, and then reassembling it. Not sure if I have the stomach or time for that, although it would be very tempting to get a few more years out of the battery for free.

I would like the Prius to last at least a couple more years until I have finished paying off the van and until there are more options when it comes to pure electric cars.

Speaking of the van, within a few days of the Prius hitting 100,000*pi, the van hit 10,000*pi... but I was on the highway coming back from Niagara Falls so I wasn't able to get a photo. Shortly after that I was able to get a photo of 100,000/3 so that was pretty cool too.

Technical Details: These photos were taken with my Moto G.
