Blue Skies was a lot of fun this year! We won the lottery for camping passes, so that was extra special. In addition to all the great music, camping out in the middle of nowhere is also an opportunity to get immersed in nature.

This year, some kids noticed a little baby bird down near the ground. Upon closer inspection, it looked like the bird had a damaged wing. Some of the adults noticed that the mother bird was periodically visiting the baby to give it food.

I had a bit of spare time one afternoon so I spent a few minutes with my camera waiting for the mother bird to try to get a photo of the feeding process. I managed to capture some photos of the mother bird approaching the baby, and I even took a photo at exactly the moment when the caterpillar was being fed to the baby, but at that same moment a leaf obscured the actual transaction.

This is the photo I took just before that moment. You can see the mother bird with the food, and the baby bird with the bad wing getting ready to take it.

Technical Details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 70-300 IS at 150mm, ISO 800, f/8 for 1/400th of a second.
