There have been many advancements in AI recently. In addition to image generation, there have been great leaps forward for text generation as well. People are using AI to help them solve all sorts of problems. I decided to use it to help solve a problem I was having.

Years ago, I won this board game for a few dollars in a silent auction for some charity. Since then, I have not been able to convince a single person to play with me. This is probably because everyone knows I grew up in the 80's absolutely glued to MuchMusic, so I have a pretty good knowledge of pop and rock music trivia.

So, I decided to do a little test, and play against three AI's. For my first attempt, I played against Google Assistant, ChatGPT, and an internal alpha version of Google's "Bard". Since I was using the internal version of Bard, I can't share the video or the results of that game. I can tell you that in the first game, Google Assistant did so well at the beginning that I thought for sure it was going to win. I scored exactly one point in that first game, so an utter failure for my human trivia knowledge.

Kai encouraged me to shoot another video that I could post to YouTube, so this time I kept Google Assistant and ChatGPT, and for the third AI I chose "YouChat", which is based on ChatGPT but attempts to cite its sources for more accuracy. Google Assistant didn't do so well this time. Now, this is partly my fault. I had a rule that I had to read exactly what was on the card. I think it would do a lot better if I changed the wording of the "questions" to be actual questions, instead of statements that simply imply a question. If we were walking through the woods and I pointed to a rock and said "this type of rock was formed under immense pressure", you would probably say something like "that's interesting." You generally wouldn't say "metamorphic", unless you were a geologist. So, asking Google Assistant in that indirect and non-obvious way was unfair, in my opinion.

Anyway, I did slightly better in this game, but only slightly... and I missed some questions that I was kicking myself for, because I did know them, but couldn't remember on the spot. If you have about 8 minutes to spare, watch the video and let me know what you think!
