When I joined Google back in 2019 it was just a couple of weeks before the launch of Stadia. At the time, everyone who had been working on Stadia up to a certain cutoff point before the launch was given a commemorative clear Stadia controller as a gift. I missed the cutoff by mere days, which was fine, since I didn't contribute anything to the launch at all. However, I was always a bit jealous of the clear controllers that everyone else had.

Now that Stadia has shut down we have been cleaning up around the office, and we stumbled upon a leftover box of clear controllers! So, we were able to give out clear controllers to a few people who had missed out on them back in 2019.

The controllers are "non-functional" -- they have all of the electronics inside, but are missing the battery, since the clear material was never put through the rigorous safety testing that is required to ship a device with a battery inside. Some brave people have swapped the battery from a working controller into the clear one, but there is no point in me attempting to do that, since Stadia is now dead. This will forever remain a treasured decorative possession on a shelf somewhere.
