At work our team has been holding little programming competitions to help everyone learn more about how video game graphics engines are designed. Our team lead chooses the theme for the contest. We have had themes like "write a pixel shader from scratch", "add a particle effect", "optimize this scene", and others. Our manager bought this trophy, and one of our team members, Alex, 3D-printed a Utah Teapot for it. We call this competition the "Shader Jam", since the first one was about writing a pixel shader.

I have won the competition twice (I won the pixel shader one, and then another one in December). Now that our team lead has moved on to another part of Google, I'm going to have to take over administering the contest, but that should be fun as well. I'm looking forward to setting challenges for people, and it will really force me to brush up on my video game engine knowledge.

Technical Details: This photo was taken with my Pixel 4.
