While I was in Mountain View, I had time after work one day to visit the NASA Ames Research Centre gift shop. The coolest souvenir that I brought home from the trip was a little flashlight that projects an image of the moon!

The kids weren't quite as impressed as I was... but maybe one of them will enjoy playing with it at some point. It reminded me of the glow-in-the-dark moon sticker that I had on the ceiling above my bed as a kid. I would stare at it for what seemed like ages, contemplating how the lunar maria formed, and tracing the debris lines radiating out from Tycho crater.
