This weekend was the open house at the Children's Safety Village in Kitchener, so we decided to go check it out. They have a neat little miniature village set up with electric vehicles that the kids can drive around in, so Aila got her first taste of what it is like to be in the driver's seat! They had the food booth set up right next to the track, so Aila also got her first taste of cotton candy.

Aila and Kai had fun playing in a miniature police car that they had there, and Aila was able to sit in the driver's seat of a full size police car, too! There were a LOT of people there, probably because it was such a nice day for it. I think the concept of a "safety village" is neat. It would be nice if it was open to the public more than one day per year. Since Aila and Kai won't be in the Waterloo Region school board, they probably won't have a chance to ever visit the village and learn about traffic safety there.

Luckily, we have a pretty big driveway... maybe I can set up my own little "safety village" at home.
