We went on our first family outing this weekend! Angela did some research and found a nearby maple syrup farm that we could visit. This also gave us an opportunity to try out our new double stroller that we bought from someone on Kijiji last fall.

We had a fun day at the farm. We saw turkeys, alpacas, a goat, a bunny, and other animals in their "petting zoo" (no petting allowed). We went on both a tracter-drawn carriage and a horse-drawn carriage ride. We ate pancakes and played with toy farm equipment, and we got a short tour of a really fancy automated maple syrup machine.

We also learned that this winter has been devastating for the maple syrup crop so far. Usually they are just finishing up their maple syrup production this weekend, but as of our visit (on the 30th), the sap hadn't even started running yet. They were unsure if they would produce any maple syrup at all this spring. Hopefully things will start flowing with the warmer weather this week.

We are still planning to go to the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival on April 5th, so if you want to join us, be in Elmira at around 8:30am that day and track us down.
