We decided to go shopping for a new fridge. The one that came with the house was 11 years old, and Angela didn't like the side-by-side layout. Plus the built-in icemaker took up so much room that we had even less space than we had in our old fridge.

While we were out, I noticed this EnerGuide rating on a fridge that we liked. At first glance, the news is good. "Wow, this fridge is the best... hey, wait a minute..." Yes, it is hard to see in this photo, but the scale goes from 492 kWh to 492 kWh. Apparently this fridge is both the best and the worst in its class.

Further research on the Energy Star website reveals that this fridge is indeed the best in its class in terms of efficiency. It also beats out many smaller fridges. However, this EnerGuide notice is really bordering on uselessness.

Technical details: This photo was taken with my LG Pop.

Ha! That's funny. Perhaps they are trying out a new marketing technique to see
if confused people buy more.
