For Family Day weekend this year, Angela and I drove to Ottawa to visit a bunch of people and take part in various Winterlude activities. On Saturday we went to see the ice sculptures in Confederation Park. While we were there, they had an ice carving demonstration by Laurent Godon, who held the Guinness World Record for fastest ice sculptor from 1992-1996. He gave an amazing demonstration, carving a chief's head from a block of ice in just a few minutes, using a chainsaw, a hand chisel, and a blowtorch.

After seeing the ice sculptures, we went skating on the canal. The ice conditions were much better than last time, but I think Angela needs to get a pair of skates that fit her properly. She managed to make it 0.6 km before she had to switch back to her boots.
