Today Angela and I found another "dream home" candidate, this time in Heidelberg (Ontario). We called up our real estate agent and went to have a look. This time it is a newer house (built in 1990, not in 1876 like last time), and has a completely different style than any of the houses we've been looking at so far. It is MLS #1011176 if you want to have a look.

We like all the wood throughout the house, and the recently renovated kitchen looks amazing. It is definitely the focal point of the house, which is what the kitchen should be in a modern home. The house is definitely big enough for us, without being TOO big, and it has a ton of amazing windows that let in a lot of light.

The downsides include a small dining area (too small for our dining room table, in fact), no municipal sewage, kind of awkward three floor arrangement (master bedroom on second floor, two bedrooms on main floor, two bedrooms in basement), and the fact that we think it is overpriced by at least $100,000.

So... we are undecided about whether this is our "dream home"... and that's probably an indication that it isn't. There is an open house tomorrow, so I think we will go check it out and see if we can grill the seller's real estate agent to get more information. Maybe she will explain why the seller thinks the house is worth the same amount as a 5000 square foot century home on a 1 acre property in Ayr.

The search continues...
