Angela and I went to see the olympic torch come through Waterloo this weekend (since I'm a week behind on my POTW, it was actually on December 27th, not December 20th). It was a good evening for it, and there were a lot of people gathered at the new Waterloo Public Square for skating, hot chocolate, and to get their pictures taken with the torch. There were so many people there that even the parking garage had a full audience on each level!

Just after six o'clock, the torch came down king street and up onto the stage in order to pass the flame from one runner to the next. It then continued on its journey through Kitchener and beyond. Of course, even though I'm a week behind on my POTW, I still managed to forget to bring my camera to one of the most interesting events of the year. That's why the quality of this week's picture kind of sucks. It is a composite of three images that I took with my cell phone. (Two for the public square panorama on the left, and one of the passing of the flame that I managed to get by holding my phone up above people's heads.)

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! We will see some of you at our New Year's Eve party, I hope. For everyone else, I hope we will see you soon!

Technical details: This photo was taken with my Sony Ericsson K790a at 5.2mm, ISO 640+500, f/2.8 for 1/8th of a second (left panorama), and 5.2mm, ISO 400, f/2.8 for 1/250th of a second (right flame photo).
