A few weeks ago Angela mentioned that she saw a wild turkey in our front yard when she was leaving for work one day. Several days later, I heard a distinctive "gobble, gobble" noise while I was on the back deck, but I didn't see anything. Then, while I was out doing some pool maintenance early one morning, I heard a noise in the woods behind me and turned around to see this huge turkey.

It was a little startled to see me... for some reason it must not have noticed me before I noticed it. I ran as quickly and as quietly as I could to get my camera. By the time I got outside again the turkey had moved up to the front yard. I tried to sneak up on it, but I'm not very stealthy, so it noticed me pretty quickly and made a hasty exit out of the driveway and across the road.

I managed to get this photo of it under the trees just as it was trying to decide whether I was a threat or not.

Technical Details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 70-300 IS at 300mm, ISO 1600, f/5.6 for 1/80th of a second.
