Petro-Canada has this deal where they offer bonus petro points if you fill up a certain number of times before a certain date. I guess the goal is to get people like me to fill up at Petro-Canada instead of other competitors. Anyway, apparently I'm a sucker for their marketing tactics... and sometimes it leads to situations like this.

This is a photo I took at the gas station on my way to work. There is an Esso in Elora, followed by 35 km of farmland, followed by a Petro-Canada less than a kilometer from the office in Waterloo. According to the fuel range indicator in the Odyssey, I nearly didn't make it. I suspect that these range indicators are rather conservative, so realistically I probably could have driven another 50 km, but you never know.

Petro-Canada defines "filling up" as "pumping at least 25 L", so the advantage of driving a huge gas guzzling vehicle is that when the tank is this empty I can "fill it up" 3 times in one day. This makes it really easy to earn bonus petro points every month. It just means that I spend a lot more time at the gas station.

On a related note, we have now put over 10,000 km on the Odyssey! So far it has been a really great vehicle, and we have made good use of the space. We have moved large pieces of furniture, hauled big things to the dump, put in three car seats so that Aila's friends can join us for events, and of course we went camping/travelling a couple of times this summer.

Technical Details: This photo was taken with my Moto G.
