For my birthday / Father's Day this year Aila bought me tickets to Roxette! For those of you who don't know, Roxette is one of my favourite bands of all time. I've been following them since their Look Sharp! album, and I think Per Gessle is a fantastic pop song writer. One of the first things I did when I met Angela was make her a mix CD of all of my favourite Roxette songs, hoping that she would learn of the awesomeness of Roxette. It worked, and soon she was asking me for a second mix CD after having memorized the first.

The concert was at the Molson Amphitheatre, and it was my first time seeing a concert there. Teresa and Fran babysat Aila while Angela and I went to the concert for a rare date together. Glass Tiger opened for them, so it was neat to see them again. Alan Frew can definitely still belt out the tunes just like the old days, and the crowd loved it. They apparently even have a new album out.

I was super excited to see Roxette. Their last concert in Toronto was 20 years ago - way back in 1992. During the last 10 years Marie Fredriksson has had a rough time with her health, but although she is not quite as animated on stage as she once was, and can't quite hit the super high notes anymore, she still did a great job of singing for an hour and a half. Per Gessle, on the other hand, looks like he is in fantastic shape and was jumping around like he was still in his 20's.

The amphitheatre was packed and you could tell that everyone in the crowd had been waiting a long time to see them. It was a fantastic night.
