After a very long pause in my Picture Of The Week, I am finally ready to start posting photos again! Since I am 7 weeks behind at this point, what I will do is post 7 photos over the next few days in order to catch up. All 7 photos will be related to the birth of our daughter Aila, with each forming a part of the story of her birth.

Part 1 - "A Routine Appointment"

On Thursday, April 28th, Angela and I went to Guelph at 11:30am for a regular appointment with our midwife. Angela's due date (May 1st) was coming up, but the baby had shown no signs of starting to descend, so we were all pretty confident that she would be late. All of our other checkups had gone really well, and the ultrasounds showed a healthy baby, with no concerns at all.

However, at this appointment Angela showed high blood pressure, and tested positive for protein in her urine. Apparently that combination can be problematic, so what was supposed to be a routine appointment ended with the words: "Please meet Carol (our midwife) at the hospital at 1pm".

Up until this point, I had been pretty lazy about taking photos. Now we had been thrown a curveball, so I asked Angela to stand in front of the frogs and pose for a late pregnancy photo. I'm glad I did, because that was pretty much the last time we were at home and in the mood for taking pictures!

Stay tuned for Part 2!

Technical details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + Tamron 28-75mm at 54mm, ISO 3200, f/2.8 for 1/15th of a second.
