It is finally time to close the pool. I took the day off work today so that I could hang out with Kevin, the pool guy, while he closed our pool. There is a pretty good chance we will simply hire him every year to close the pool for us, but if I decide to do it myself in the future, at least now I have some idea of what is involved.

It was quite a process. I'm tired, and I hardly even did anything. I have to stop taking time off work... it's too exhausting. Now that the pool is closed for the winter, that is one less thing to worry about every day, so now I can focus on getting more stuff done inside the house, like organizing my workshop and my office.

Technical details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + Tamron 28-75mm at 28mm, ISO 400, f/8.0 for 1/25th of a second.

Do you drain it completely? I'm puzzled because the cover is up high and I
wonder about snow on top of it. It looks like quite the process.

It is drained down about a foot and a half... just down far enough so that the
intake and output lines are no longer underwater. So the pool still has water
in it, but all the lines in the system have been blown out and sealed, so that
they don't freeze.
