This week we went to see U2 in Toronto! Molly got a sweet deal on four tickets, so we invited Jeannie to come along and see the show with the three of us. I remember seeing U2 back in 1997 during the PopMart tour, and I remember what an amazing spectacle the whole thing was, so I was definitely looking forward to the 360° tour. We were not disappointed!

The 360° stage was very impressive, and the video screens were incredible. Also, the Skydome roof was open for this concert (apparently it was only the second time it has ever been open for a concert)! That meant we had an incredible view of the CN Tower and the clouds passing by as the concert happened. I think it also improved the sound quality, as there was less echo. Unfortunately, our view was slightly blocked by the huge sound booth in the middle of the field, which is probably why we got a good deal on the tickets. It didn't bother us too much, but you can see it in the second photo.

The top photo was taken by Angela at the beginning of the concert from the upper lever, when she went up to buy earplugs. (It also turned out that our seats were right in front of a set of speakers, so it was extremely loud where we were sitting.) It shows the video screen the way it was for most of the concert.

The second photo was also taken by Angela from where we were sitting. It shows what happened during the concert, when the video screen broke apart into hundreds of small hexagonal video screens, and formed a huge column above the band. It was an incredible light show.

Later on, they had a big disco ball that they shone very bright spotlights onto. It was so bright that you could see the disco ball reflections on the CN Tower! As an added plus for me, they also played my favourite song: Until The End Of The World. Awesome!

Technical details: These images were taken by Angela with her Canon SD450 at (top, bottom): (17.4mm, 8.5mm), Auto ISO, (f/4.9, f/3.5) for 1/8th of a second.
