We had a big storm in Waterloo this weekend. Angela missed it because she was in Toronto with her friends at her bachelorette weekend party. The weather was nice when I headed out to play Go with Russell, and afterwards Russell came back to the house to check out the new front porch. It was still calm when we pulled into my driveway and while we talked about the porch. It just started to rain a little bit as we headed inside, and then in just a few minutes the wind picked up and I was worried that either the barbecue or the furniture on the porch would get blown over. I looked out the kitchen window and everything was OK so far, and we headed upstairs to check on the frogs. When we went into the solarium to check on the crickets, we noticed that one of the trees in the back yard had been blown over!

I took a drive after the storm to survey the neighbourhood, and there were a lot of trees down, including several very large trees. In one case I had to do a three point turn and head back because a tree was entirely blocking a street. So, I wasn't the only one in the neighbourhood who lost a tree.

Sadly, as you can see the tree could not be saved, and I had to chop it up the next day. I haven't had time to remove the stump yet or figure out where to put all of the firewood I have now.
