Today I went to the symphony with my friend Chad. Well, it wasn't just any old concert... it was Video Games Live!
I heard of this concert series one or two years ago, so when Chad pointed out a few weeks ago that it was coming to Kitchener, I said I would go! I didn't quite know what to expect... even though I have played a lot of video games, I haven't played THAT many video games, and I'm not familiar with the epic franchises such as Final Fantasy, Zelda, Halo, Warcraft or Metal Gear Solid. In fact, I figured the only song I would know would be the Tetris theme.
However, I was pleasantly surprised, and the concert was way better than I thought it would be. They had a couple of surprise guests, and some live video game playing as well. I encourage you to check it out if it comes to your town!

Very cool! That sounds like fun.-- Aravind at 1:04am, Saturday March 14, 2009 EST
It was definitely fun. One of the surprise guests they had was this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHn-L6odDP4 I had seen this video a few months ago, so I was really excited when they brought him out on stage to perform. He played really well, and in the second half he did his blindfold super mario live!-- Michael at 12:30am, Sunday March 15, 2009 EST
Nooooo! I can't believe I missed this in both Winnipeg last year and now in Kitchener.-- Russell at 2:35pm, Tuesday April 7, 2009 EST
My favourite part was when they announced that the next song was going to be "FINAL..." (lots of cheering, and a long pause) "FANTASY..." (more cheering for an awkwardly long span of time worthy of an American Idol voting announcement, but which evolves into people shouting out "five" "seven" "four!" trying to guess which one it was going to be. followed ultimately by the announcer shouting...) "SEVEN!!!" (crowd goes mental with applause and cheering.) LOL!-- Chad at 9:13am, Wednesday April 8, 2009 EST
