It is time for another spooky Halloween! This year we opted for more traditional designs, as opposed to last year. However, we did have fun designing and carving the large pumpkin.
Do you know who it is?
Have a spooky night, everyone!
Technical details: This photo was taken with my Rebel XT + kit lens at 18mm, ISO 1600, f/8.0 for 20 seconds.
Did you have a model for the large pumpkin? It has a nice big smile, wider than its very large eyes! Those are all great carvings!-- Mum at 9:16pm, Friday October 31, 2008 EST
It's Jack, right? Not our nephew though :P-- Alix at 9:45pm, Friday October 31, 2008 EST
As in Jack of the lantern? I was thinking it was Freddie or Marabelle.-- Mum at 9:55pm, Friday October 31, 2008 EST
Oooh, Alix knows the answer... it IS Jack. But if it's not our Jack, then which Jack is it? Very mysterious! And yes, I did have some pictures to use as a model, but I drew the design on the pumpkin freehand. (We used stencils for the other two.)-- Michael at 10:32pm, Friday October 31, 2008 EST
Aunt Rena wants to know how you got the lake effect.-- Mum at 12:14am, Saturday November 1, 2008 EST
Nice job. Neat picture. I cut out two pumpkins from orange file folders and taped them in the window with nightlights behind them. It's a tradition. Hey is that reflection from your floor? It sure is a cool shot.-- Steven P at 12:25am, Saturday November 1, 2008 EST
I put my camera on the lowest tripod I had, so it was almost sitting on the floor. The pumpkins are sitting on the hearth in front of my fireplace, so the "lake effect" is actually a reflection off the hardwood floor in my living room.-- Michael at 3:12pm, Saturday November 1, 2008 EST
You two are so talented! Our pumpkins never turn out like yours, even with stencils. My guess for middle pumpkin is....character from "Tim Burton" movie? Can't remember name at this moment though.... hope you had a great weekend!-- Jeannie at 10:28am, Monday November 3, 2008 EST
Thanks, I think they turned out well. A few of our guests on Halloween night correctly identified the middle pumpkin as being Jack Skellington-- Michael at 11:51am, Monday November 3, 2008 EST
