This weekend Angela and I went to Toronto for her friend Mel's birthday party. It just so happened that it was the same night as Nuit Blanche, which is an "all-night contemporary art thing" that started in Paris in 2002 and has quickly been spreading around the globe.

Since we had a party to go to and numerous people to visit, we didn't get to see a lot of the art exhibits, but we still roamed the streets of Toronto until 4:30am, and we found a few neat exhibits.

This is a photo of a very large stack of oil drums. The artist stacked them so that they completely blocked off a street, and they said random stuff that doesn't make any sense, and while you were standing there trying to figure out if it made any sense, weird noise and music was being played through loudspeakers on the street corners. It is called "Euphemisms For The Intimate Enemy" by Ruark Lewis.

We missed the "big" installation, which was from Project Blinkenlights. They set up Toronto City Hall so that you could play pong and space invaders on it using the office windows as pixels. But we saw Yoko Ono's "Imagine Peace" exhibit, and some people throwing computer monitors off a scissor lift, so that was fun.

Technical details: This photo was shot with my Rebel XT + kit lens at 27mm, ISO 1600, f/4, for 1/250th of a second.

Holy crap, do you have any photos of it from farther away? That's really cool.
