On Canada Day this year Angela, Luch and I hung out around Ottawa and Carleton Place for the entire day. After dinner, we went to a party that was held at an apartment downtown where a friend of Ramon's lives. The apartment was kind of neat: The "balcony" is actually the rear portion of the roof of a store on the ground floor. So, aside from the two massive air conditioning units, the balcony is great for partying.

The other advantage of this apartment is that the roof of the building provided a great view of the fireworks. Just before the fireworks started, the three of us headed up to the roof, and I hung out over the edge to take some pictures of the party from above.

This is a combination of two photos I took. On the right, you can see the sound system set up on one of the air conditioners, and Ramon manning the wheels of steel. On the left, you can see the image of a maple leaf that they had projected on the wall, giving a distinctly red cast to the entire party.

The fireworks were awesome, and I managed to improvise and use my wallet as a tripod to get some neat photos. I put some photos from the party up on Facebook.

Technical details: This is a combination of two photos taken with my Rebel XT + kit lens at 18mm, ISO 1600, f/3.5 for 0.5 seconds.
