The weather has been rather freakish lately. Today (January 8th), the temperature peaked at 13.3 degrees! Because of the high temperatures, it has been very damp and foggy as all of the snow melts and the meltwater evaporates.

The other night we had a power failure that lasted for about two hours. After we ran around the house making sure everything was alright, I took my camera downstairs and took a picture through the front window. I don't usually get to see what the street looks like with no lights on at all.

I took this picture just after midnight. It is a long exposure, since it was taken in the middle of the night during a power failure. The sky was overcast, and it was foggy out, so all of the light in the picture is coming from the other lights in the city. (Our street was the only one affected by the power outage, for some reason. Must have been a blown transformer.)

Because of this kind of weather, I haven't been able to try out my Christmas present yet. I can only sit back and wait for clearer skies...

Technical details: This photo was taken with my Rebel XT + kit lens at 18mm, ISO 400, f/4, for 30 seconds.

Wow, it looks like day!

All our snow is gone here. It's quite weird.

Yes, all of the snow is gone here as well, and the rivers are full. The
temperature fell by 10 degrees today, but it is still going to linger above
zero for the next few days.

It's quite surreal.

Wow, there's light everywhere!	Is it any wonder that animals can see at night
in the so-called "dark"?
