Technology sure has come a long way... and it continues to improve at a dizzying pace. Last week, I bought a new cell phone. It is a Sony Ericsson K790a, and it has a 3.2 megapixel digital camera built into it! Now I will never find myself in a situation without a camera!

Obviously it's not the best camera in the universe, but it's not bad considering how small it is, and considering the fact that I can also use it to make phone calls and surf the internet. It even has a video camera mode that lets me make little movies.

The video camera mode isn't the greatest... it shoots in QCIF resolution (176x144) at 15 frames per second... but it's almost good enough for YouTube. As an experiment, I decided to use it to film myself solving a Rubik's Cube and upload the video to see how it turned out. Not the best, but oh well.

To make up for that video, I filmed another one using Angela's camera (Canon SD450), but this time I shot it in "first person" and edited together a little explanation of the steps I used to solve the cube. See Solving A Rubik's Cube With Explanation.

Anyway, back to the phone. I decided to test the still camera to see what kind of images it produced. This was a photo I took of a small pumpkin-like gourd on the dining room table. I think it turned out pretty well!

Technical details: This photo was taken with my Sony Ericsson K790a at ISO 80, f/2.8, for 1/80th of a second.

Nice picture. I like the YouTube videos, the one with the "explanations" is
particularly well done.

Wow, it's hard to believe that picture was taken with a cellphone. Technology
is crazy.

Mike!! HAHAhahahahah... I just saw your Rubik's Cube solve videos. Awesome!!
You're great! The 2nd one with explanation... after about 30 seconds, I was
like "WTH is the explanation?!?" Nice one. You're a genius.

I should put
"Rubik's Cube" on my Christmas wish-list!
