Sorry for the delay this week. Norm and I had to travel to Pottstown, Pennsylvania for an "engineering summit", which was basically three days of meetings with people from different teams who are all collaborating on a new product. I knew I needed a Picture Of The Week, so I brought my camera. Unfortunately, I only had time to take three candidate pictures. When I got home, I couldn't choose between the three pictures I took, so I decided to use all of them.

The trip itself was fairly routine, until the end. We decided to leave from Waterloo International Airport, which was much better than going all the way to Pearson. It only takes 15 minutes to get there by car, and there are never any lineups, because there aren't very many flights. We flew on a Saab 340 turboprop to Detroit, and from there we took a McDonnell Douglas DC-9 to Philadelphia.

On the way back, our flight out of Philadelphia was delayed by almost four hours, causing us to miss our connection in Detroit, so we had to stay the night there and catch an early flight into Waterloo the next day. So, I really didn't get much done from Monday to Friday this week. Oh well.

Pottstown was an interesting place... it is about an hour away from Philadelphia, and is surrounded by farmland. I kind of felt like I was in Springfield, mostly because of the nuclear cooling towers that were always present on the skyline, looming over the town. I didn't actually get to see the town, because the hotel was only a few blocks away from the office, and both are on the outskirts.

The left photo is the view from my hotel room. The center photo is pretty obvious. The right photo was actually taken from outside the Harris office, looking towards the nuclear power plant.

Technical details: All three photos were taken with my Rebel XT + kit lens. The left photo was taken at 55mm, ISO 100, f/8 for 1/80th of a second. The center photo was taken at 18mm, ISO 400, f/5 for 1/20th of a second. The right photo was taken at 55mm, ISO 100, f/8 for 1/30th of a second.

Wow, that middle picture could be in a hotel brouchure :P

Now you've got that
Moxy Fruvous song stuck in my head "...half a mile from the cooling towers, I
sure hope that she's ok..."

I like the shot with the cooling towers. The middle picture is a great example
of the use of window light. I like it!

Thanks for the comments! For the middle picture, I just walked into my room
after a long day at work, and I thought "wow, that looks just like a scene from
an advertisement"... I was lucky to walk in at just the right moment.
