Work has been keeping me busy, but last week Angela and I took some time to go visit her grandfather who lives on Rice Lake near Hastings.

While we were there, we went for a walk down an old railway line that has been converted into a nature trail. We saw a lot of wildlife, including butterflies, bugs of all sorts, a great blue heron, garter snakes, and most importantly about a hundred frogs.

This frog was hanging out on a lily pad in a small pond alongside the trail. There were at least twenty more that we could see in the area just sitting around, including a great big frog floating in the water. He swam away pretty quickly when I tried to move in for a close photo.

As we walked along we saw many more hopping across the trail in search of food.

Technical details: This was shot with my Rebel XT + 70-300mm lens at 300mm, ISO 100, f/8 for 1/200th of a second.
