We tried to make it from Vancouver to Jasper in one day, but we ran out of time so we decided to pull in for the night at Mount Robson Provincial Park. Unfortunately, the campsite was full, and all they had left was "overflow" camping. Fortunately, the overflow camping consisted of a big field with a great view of the mountain, and we were the only people there!

Mount Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. I don't know very much about it because we were only there for one night, and we got up and headed straight for Jasper in the morning.

Update: I have posted the rest of my photos on my Picasa Web Album. Also check out Angela's Picasa Web Album.

Emotional details: As soon as we got to our "campsite", we immediately saw the mountain bathed in moonlight from an almost full moon. The clouds were swirling around the peak, and the stars were out behind them. I knew I had to get a picture of this amazing sight. I'm glad the photo worked out as well as it did, considering I didn't have any way of accurately focussing. After taking the photo I went straight to sleep because I was tired from a full day of driving.

Technical details: This was shot with my Rebel XT + kit lens at 24mm, ISO 400, f/3.5 for 30 seconds. Very little processing was done to the photo... this is pretty much how it looked straight out of the camera.

That's a beautiful picture! One question: Did you have to pitch a tent each
time you stopped or are you able to set up your car for sleeping?

Angela can't sleep in the car, so we had to pitch the tent every time we
stopped for the night.	Luckily it didn't rain very much on the trip!

Also,
since we knew we would be staying in the tent so often, we decided not to use
our thermarests on this trip. Instead, we invested in a high quality
inflatable mattress, similar to
this one from Aero
Products.

I bought a power inverter so that we could use the car as a
generator. That was useful for using the electric pump on the air mattress,
recharging camera batteries, cell phones, razors, and other gear.

So, we slept
in style the whole way! ;)
