This weekend Angela and I and found ourselves in Waterloo Park on both Saturday and Sunday.

Last week we got free tickets to a double feature that was part of the Non Violence International Film Festival, which is held at the Princess Cinema in Waterloo. One film was about a Canadian who has spent the past seven years raising orphaned grizzly bears in a wildlife preserve in Kamchatka. The other film was about the differences in quality of life between Niger (the lowest country on the Human Development Index) and Norway (the highest country). Both films were very interesting.

While we were at the movies, we picked up a flyer that said there would be a Non Violence Festival In The Park on Saturday. The flyer also said that one of the musicians playing in the park that day would be Arun Pal, a local musician that we have seen in concert a couple of times.

So, on Saturday we headed to the park to check things out. We basically just stayed for Arun's set, looked at the exhibits and then left.

On Sunday, we had to go back to the park because I volunteered to open and close the bandshell for Sunday evening's concert. This weekend the featured guest was the Ceremonial Band Of The Waterloo Regional Police Service. Incidentally, the full list of bands performing this summer is posted on the Waterloo Concert Band's Website.

Anyway, since this was a weekend of music in the park, I decided to make that the theme of this week's picture. On the left is Arun Pal performing on Saturday, and on the right is the Waterloo Regional Police Band marching into Watelroo Park on Sunday.
