This weekend was the 150th anniversary of Waterloo being officially recognized as a "Village". To celebrate the occasion, the City of Waterloo held a parade through town, kicking off an afternoon of festivities.

The Waterloo Concert Band has a long history with the City, and during the golden era of band music, the band (then known as the Waterloo Musical Society Band) would lead parades through the town. In order to recreate this spectacle, the city asked us to march at the head of the parade. We aren't exactly a marching band anymore, but we did our best, and I think we looked half decent.

The weather called for rain, but luckily it only sprinkled a little bit as we walked through town. The downpour didn't start until we were safely inside at the end of the parade route.

Since I was busy playing, I didn't get a chance to take any pictures, but Angela was standing by with her trusty camera, and snapped this great photo of the band. You should be able to spot me playing the clarinet on the left behind the tenor sax.

I should note that the sign at the front should have said "Since 1858". I was a little worried when I saw that they got the date wrong because I was the one who told them the year, but I checked my email and I did in fact tell them it should read 1858, so it's not my fault. ;)

Technical details: This was shot by Angela with her Canon SD450 at 17mm, Auto ISO, f/4.9 for 1/250th of a second.
