There were many opportunities to go snorkeling in Hawaii. This was my first experience swimming in the ocean. It was much warmer than I expected - warmer than any lake I've ever been in. I could have stayed in the water for hours. Angela bought some ISO 800 disposable underwater cameras for us to use on the trip. Due to an oversight, they accidentally went through the checked luggage x-ray scanners at least twice before we got to Maui. We decided to use them anyway, to see how they turned out. They actually survived fairly well, much to my surprise.

This is a sea turtle that decided to swim under me. They didn't seem to care much about snorkelers at all. I can see why some first time snorkelers freak out when they see one, because if it is coming up for air and you are in the way, it will just swim right at you expecting you to move. Since it is a $500 US fine to touch them, moving is a good idea.
