It snowed all day yesterday in Waterloo, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to photograph my house at night with the Christmas lights on. Unfortunately, my digital camera didn't like the cold weather very much, or the difficult lighting conditions. The original picture turned out to be very dark and noisy. I tried a few different photo retouching programs to see if I could clean it up, but nothing really worked. I decided this was a good time to try my hand at writing a simple noise filter. The algorithm I used is incredibly crude, but in this case it yielded better results than the other programs. Unfortunately no amount of digital manipulation can make this photo actually look good, but that has never stopped me from posting before, so there you go.

Where is the LADA?
-- Doctor Krumble

The Lada is snug as a bug in a rug, safe inside my garage!

I take it out every
two weeks for exercise.
