Last week there was a total lunar eclipse. It was the longest lunar eclipse I had ever seen, with totality lasting almost an hour and a half! My friend Aravind was in Brazil at the time, so I didn't get to use his telescope. Instead, I just set up my tripod outside the front door of my house and took a few pictures. The biggest problem with film photography is that you can take a whole roll of film in the hopes of getting one picture to turn out the way you would like it. In this case, I took half a roll of film, and none of the photos turned out perfectly. Part of that was a mistake I made... I forgot to account for the fact that I had zoomed in all the way. Well, this picture was the closest to what I wanted. This is during totality, and you can see the variation in colour on the moon. I illuminated the trees in my yard with a flashlight in order to give some context to the picture.
