When construction started across the road, I was sad to lose the farmer's field that was there. In the winter it was a good close place to set up a camera or telescope to take photos of planets or watch deer. However, now that I see what they are building there, I'm kind of excited. Right across the road from our house will be a storm water management pond.

The downside appears to be that the pond is above the level of our house, so if the retaining wall ever gives way, there could be a torrent of water coming down our driveway.

The upside is that there appears to be a nice artificial hill where I can get a clear view of the sky. I guess it depends on whether they plant any trees there or not. Time will tell!

In other news, the developer has said that they are building two parks either this summer or next summer. The first one will have a play structure and an outdoor skating rink. The second one will have a natural ampitheatre and a walking trail around the storm water management pond. So (fingers crossed) it looks like there will finally be a park close by before the kids are too old to use it!
