Google decided that my old cell phone was a security risk due to its age, so the company warned me that I would not be able to use it to access any data for work. Normally I resist getting a company phone, but my manager convinced me to do it to make my life easier. So, I'm now the proud carrier of a company-owned Pixel 4!

I ported my personal number to the company account, so it was a seamless transition. The downside is that if I ever leave Google I guess I have to either convince them to let me keep my number, or lose the number I've had since 1998. I figure in this day and age, phone numbers aren't that important anymore anyway... there many other ways of finding me on the internet.

One thing I am looking forward to trying out is the "Night Sight" feature of the phone, which allows you to do astrophotography at the touch of a button. I went out on one of the first nights I had the phone to try it out, but the moon was out so I couldn't get a decent "deep space" picture. Instead, I took this photo of my house. I think it turned out pretty well considering that it was a hand-held shot! The phone asks you to hold as still as possible, then I believe it takes a bunch of frames and aligns and stacks them internally to build up a long exposure image.

I set up a Clear Sky Alarm Clock so that I can get an email when conditions are going to be right for astrophotography. Hopefully soon I will be able to get out on a clear moonless night to try the full capabilities of this phone!

Technical Details: This photo was taken with my Pixel 4. The photo was not adjusted except for some light noise reduction, cropping, and resizing.
