This is a special Christmas Eve Picture Of The Week! Aiti called on her way to Elora this evening and said that the sky was clear and that there was an incredibly bright star in the western sky. That "star" is the planet Venus, which is especially bright at the moment. After dinner, I stepped outside and took this photo in the field across the road from our house.

Since the weather has been so cold, all of the trees are still coated in a thick layer of clear ice, and they all lit up as the cars drove past. It was quite an incredible sight, so thanks to Aiti for taking the time to call and let me know what I was missing outside! Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Technical Details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 70-300 IS at 70mm, ISO 400, f/8 for 20 seconds.

Perfect! That's exactly what I was seeing along the dark highway through
Central Frontenac. So glad you had clear skies too and could capture it.

Wow,the picture is very beautiful even on it's own. Then knowing the story
behind it, that Aiti would know to call you on the phone and that you would be
able to see the same as she was seeing. Guess to my simple mind one is amazing
as the other :o)
