In this week's segment of "Things I Never Thought I Would Say": Aila won a Christmas tree at daycare! Her class went on a field trip to a tree farm, where they learned all about different kinds of trees. During the trip, the kids walked through the forest and picked out a tree that they thought would make a good Christmas tree. At the end of the trip, all the kids names were put into a hat and a draw was held to find out who got to keep the tree. Apparenly Aila was the lucky one!

In the afternoon, Angela got a phone call at work saying: "We think Aila is sick. Please come pick her up early if you can. Oh, and by the way: There is a 4 foot Christmas tree here for you." So, Angela called me and we both went to get Aila early. On the way home we stopped off at Canadian Tire where we bought a tree stand (we've never had a real Christmas tree before) and had Aila pick out a pack of plastic icicle ornaments.

When we got home we picked out a spot in the rec room and put up the tree. We found a spare string of LED lights and some tinsel, and Aila had a decoration that she had made at daycare as well. She had a lot of fun decorating it.

Yesterday I stayed home with her as a precaution, but she isn't showing any signs of being sick so today we will send her back to daycare after we all go to a midwife appointment this morning. Also, tonight is my office Christmas party, so we are looking forward to that. It has been quite an interesting week so far.

What fun! I wonder what Santa will do when he sees the cute little tree.
Maybe he'll hang a candy cane on it!
