August long weekend means yet another Blue Skies! This is the first time Aila has been awake for a long car trip. Last year she was still taking two naps so with careful timing we were able to get her to sleep for the entire trip both ways. This time we actually had to find ways to keep her entertained.

As a result, Aila now owns her first computer. After reading stories to her for the first two hours of the trip, I gave her the tablet and showed her how to use it. It is meant for 3 year olds, and is a little confusing for someone who just turned 2, but she had fun swapping the cartridges and listening to the stories.

On our way to Blue Skies, we stopped in at Rice Lake to visit Aila's Great Grandpa. After that visit, it was time for Aila's nap so she slept most of the way from there to our campsite at Sharbot Lake. Aiti met us that evening and set up camp with us for the weekend.

On Saturday morning we got our Blue Skies clothes on (pictured at left) and headed to the festival. Once we got in, we met up with Aunt Alix, Aunt Susan and Uncle James.

The music was interesting this year. I think the Friday concert was the best, from what I've heard (we only had day passes for Saturday and Sunday). Out of the two nights we were there, I think I enjoyed Ken Whiteley on Saturday and Sarah Harmer on Sunday (who wasn't actually scheduled, but was filling in at the last minute for Ferron, who couldn't be there) the most.

Aila enjoyed the gospel workshop, the parade, playing with bubbles and playing on the kids play structure. She also enjoyed wearing Aunt Susan's hat (pictured at right) and running away from her parents whenever we needed to change or feed her.

Technical Details: The shot on the left was taken with my Canon 5D Mark II + EF 17-40L at 40mm, ISO 400, f/4 for 1/125th of a second. The shot on the right was taken with the same setup at 40mm, ISO 200, f/4 for 1/160th of a second

Is that a vintage kids' t-shirt Aila is sporting?

Yes it is! Back from the early 80's and still holding together.
