We held Aila's 2nd birthday party on the weekend before her birthday. She had a great time visiting with her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Perhaps her favourite gift was a tricycle from her cousins Zoe and Fiona that they had grown out of. This photo shows her trying it out inside, but since then she has enjoyed riding it around the front yard and even down the road to visit our next door neighbours.

Aila also enjoyed playing with the baseball and mitt that Fiona had brought to the party. I found it amazing that she just picked it up off the ground, put her hand into it, and immediately seemed to understand exactly how to use it. Although she did also try to use it to throw the ball. Come to think of it, she expressed great interest in a lacrosse stick at Home Hardware the other day. Perhaps one day she will be interested in sports that involve hurling things great distances.

Technical details: These photos were taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 17-40L at (26mm, 40mm), (ISO 100, ISO 800), f/4 for (1/30th, 1/400th) of a second (plus flash for the left photo).

She got the hurling objects gene from you I'm afraid. You used to love throwing
pool balls at Emily. Luckily no serious injuries ensued. It is amazing that
Aila takes to sports so well!
