Angela took a cake decorating course this winter, and Aila's second birthday was a perfect opportunity to try out some of her new skills and equipment. Aila is fascinated by owls, so Angela wanted to make the perfect owl cake for her. Two weeks before Aila's birthday, Angela did a trial run to make sure that she had the basic proportions right, then she made the final owl cake for Aila's party. Keen observers will have noticed the final cake at the end of Aila's Second Year Video.

Which cake do you like better?

Technical details: These photos were taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 17-40L at 25mm, ISO 400, f/4 for 1/60th (left) and 1/320th (right) of a second.

I agree, the one on the right looks more owl like to me also. I think that
Angela did a great job on the icing on both, better than my tries using an
icing bag with attachments.  Great job Angela! Your a great mom too!!
