I have been trying to get a photo of Comet PANSTARRS for the last week, with no success. Each time I've tried, I've either been outside too late, too early, or there have been clouds right on the horizon where it is supposed to be.

I have managed to take a few neat snapshots of other things while I was outside though. This is a simple photo of Orion that I took, using my little GorillaPod to prop my camera up on the top of my car so that I could make a long exposure.

If you are having trouble making out the constellation, hover over the image for a diagram. You can see the Orion Nebula in Orion's sword, which is hanging below his belt.

Technical details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 70-300IS at 70mm, ISO 1600, f/4 for 10 seconds.
