On Family Day this year we braved the cold weather and went to the Winterloo Ice Dogs Festival. We saw a fire truck, some ice sculptures (including an ice sled and dog team that you could sit on for photos), and a lot of big sled dogs. Aila was even able to sit by herself on a sled and was pulled around by a sled dog!

Just as we were heading back to the car, the Waterloo Central Railway's steam engine showed up! Aila has been fascinated by trains ever since I let her watch Thomas on Netflix one day when she was too sick to go to daycare. So, she was very happy to see a real life steam engine!

This is the same steam engine that I featured as my Picture Of The Week way back in 2007. I shot a video of the train leaving, with impressive amounts of steam billowing out from the engine. At the end of the video, you can hear Aila calling for "more choo-choo", as she was quite sad to see the engine leaving.

Technical details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + Tamron 28-75 at 28mm, ISO 400, f/8 for 1/800th of a second.
