This winter has certainly had its ups and downs in terms of weather. On one particularly snowy day, I noticed that some snowflakes were sticking to the windows for a few moments before being blown off again by the wind. Now that I have my new macro lens, I can finally take advantage of situations like this!

I found out that it is very difficult to take a photo of a snowflake while (A) it is sliding down the window, and (B) I have a 20-month old climbing all over me trying to get my camera. Nevertheless, I did manage to get a couple of shots that were mostly in focus. This snowflake was half melted by the time I got to it, but it did have an interesting structure.

Hopefully conditions will be right for me to try this again sometime, and hopefully when that happens I can distract Aila long enough to set up my tripod.

Technical details: This photo was taken with my 5D Mark II + EF 100mm Macro at 100mm, ISO 400, f/5 for 1/200th of a second.
