This week I took a couple of days off and drove up to Carleton Place to help my mum move some furniture and stuff to the cottage. After a bit of a delayed start due to a dead battery, we completed our moving project and enjoyed a nice drive through the remnants of the fall colours.
The weather was pretty yucky for a while, but then the sun finally came out on Sunday morning before my long drive home. Mum took me to one of the most photogenic spots in Carleton Place, which is the old Findlay Foundry property, which has a great view of the Town Hall across the river. It is a perfect postcard shot, and in fact this view is the very first hit when you do a Google Image Search for Carleton Place.
Wish you were here!

Don't mean to nit pick, but I think it needs a slight rotation to straighten it out, or are my eyes playing tricks on me?-- Aravind at 10:30am, Tuesday October 27, 2009 EST
I debated that just before I posted it. The left side of the building leans to the right a little bit, and believe it or not the right side actually leans to the left even though it looks like it leans to the right. The right side doesn't have as much angle as the left side, so perhaps I could have rotated the image slightly, but it would have been by less than half a degree I think. The fact that the shoreline is not straight and that the bridge is at an angle to the camera doesn't help either.-- Michael at 10:45am, Tuesday October 27, 2009 EST
Excellent! I like yours better. No cars, no bright yellow jackets.-- Mum at 8:55pm, Tuesday October 27, 2009 EST
