For some reason the extremely cold weather we've been having lately has made me think about astronomy again. Or maybe it's because I just read a book on astronomy that Angela gave me for Christmas. Either way, I'm dying to get outside and have another go at astrophotography. It has been far too long since my last attempt, and I'm really hoping to get better results next time.
However, it is far too cold and snowy to attempt anything at the moment. For now, all I can do is gaze out at the planet Venus through a frosty bedroom window.

I have my telescope here, so if you want to go out sometime, let me know. Perhaps we should practice setting it up in the daytime first though.-- Russell O'Connor at 5:35pm, Wednesday January 21, 2009 EST
Good idea!-- Michael at 8:31pm, Wednesday January 21, 2009 EST
This reminded me that I wanted to send you this article, if I haven't already: The Buckshot Lake Road, which connects Plevna with Denbigh,...is one of the darkest spots in southern Ontario, and this has made it a prime location for a high-tech telescope which will be one of the most powerful in North America. Hey, that's great! Hopefully they can start having star parties there. The skies around Ompah have always been very dark. Hopefully they will stay that way for a long time. If there are observatories around, it will encourage local government to pass light pollution laws, which will be good for the region.-- Michael at 12:42am, Saturday January 24, 2009 EST
