This weekend was the sixth annual "Taste The Season" event put on by the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce. For $40 you get a "passport" that lets you into 17 local wineries for a free taste of wine paired with a small appetizer to complement it. If you are unfamiliar with the area, it's a great way to explore the different wineries and get a feel for the differences between them, and the general process of winemaking.

This was the third year that Angela and I took part. I was a little late because I spent saturday morning with the Waterloo Concert Band playing hymns for the Remembrance Day ceremony in Waterloo, but I was still able to get to over twelve wineries once I got down to the Niagara region. (I wasn't tasting though... I was the designated driver this time.)

Unfortunately, the weather was pretty dismal. It rained most of Saturday, and was still cold and wet on Sunday. As a result, we didn't do much sight seeing in the area... but we were really only there for the wine anyway.

This is a photo I took outside of the Strewn winery. I'm sure it looks more lush in the summer time.

Technical details: This was shot with my Rebel XT + kit lens at 18mm, ISO 200, f/8 for 1/100th of a second.

Comments

Good composition.

One of my regrets for 'things I should have done while I
still lived in Ontario' is definitely not having taken advantage of the Niagara
winery tours. Sounds like fun.
