This summer at Blue Skies there was band there that was a little... different. They were called Spiral Beach, and they played some sort of synth/pop/rock music. It was pretty catchy, and I found myself humming it after the festival was over. Unfortunately, they didn't have a CD out at the time so all I could do was listen to the three tracks or so that they had available online.

Finally last week I decided to check their website again to see if they had a CD. Lo and behold, they did! Unfortunately, it's only available in a few stores in Toronto, but I also discovered that they were coming to Guelph this weekend! So, on Friday we headed over to Club Vinyl in Guelph to catch the show. It was a label launch party for Sunny Lane Records, and Spiral Beach were opening for The Ride Theory. Both bands put on a great show. I wasn't too keen on The Ride Theory going into the concert, based on what I heard from their website, but they put on a pretty good live show. Spiral Beach was awesome, and their CD is excellent. Pick up a copy if you are in the Toronto area.

This is a picture I took at the concert of Maddy Wilde, keyboard/guitar/vocalist for Spiral Beach. This was also my first attempt at concert photography, which is quite difficult due to the crazy lighting setups and lack of tripods. Once again I used my trusty 50mm 1.8 Mark II (thanks again to Aravind for selling it to me). This was shot with my Rebel XT at 1600 ISO, f/1.8, 1/60s exposure. I pushed it half a stop and ran it through NoiseNinja before resizing and selectively sharpening the foreground. It's not the best picture ever, but it's the best one out of the nine that I shot.

Greetings to you, I think that Ms. Maddy is very pretty, and I wouldn't mind
showing her a good time. She can sing for me anytime she wishes. May all her
music go Platnum.
